Flattery will get you everywhere

Angella at DutchBlitz has bestowed an award upon me! It’s my first blog honor, and I’m thrilled!

She tagged me with the Power of Schmooze Award.

Here’s the definition of the award:

Good schmoozers effortlessly weave their way in and out of the blogosphere, leaving friendly comments, happily making new friends along the way.

I often wonder why I blog. I’m still trying to figure it out. But I do realize that one big part of it, the part that I never really thought of until now, is that it’s fun to make blog friends all over the country (and the world!). People who, if they lived nearby, would probably be your friend in “real life.” And it’s fun to think that maybe, someday, you might be able to meet these nice bloggers who take an interest in your writing.

And really, it’s fun to get comments! But you don’t get comments unless you leave them as you go… it’s blog karma!

So now, I’d like to pass along the honor to the following two bloggers who work their magic by faithfully commenting and making their fellow bloggers feel special.

Beach Mama – This woman works overtime with her commenting! I see her name everywhere, and she’s always upbeat, leaving thoughtful comments wherever she reads. The first time she left a comment on my site, I felt so honored! Beach Mama left me comment!! Eee! She’s very sweet, and her devotion to her family is heartwarming. I look forward to seeing pictures of her brand new daughter who is due next month.

Just Jane – Not that Jane is busy enough with her daughter, a career change, a big move, and her tireless dating life, but she updates her blog daily with good, long posts… AND, she is always reading and commenting as she goes. I don’t quite remember how Jane found my site, but she was one of my first out-of-the-blue readers, and I look forward to her visits. Jane and I have bonded over her blog transition to WordPress, and I even know her real name!

Honorable Mentions – My real-life friends Little Miss Mel and 180/360. My blog wouldn’t be the same without their constant support and witty remarks. (Are you sick of me mentioning them yet?) And Angella, thanks again! I enjoy our blog friendship… you’re a good egg! (That’s an old norcal term for a strong, reliable person).
